Space 101 and Mars Exploration

Space exploration has always been inspiring people creating innovation to be used both in the Earth and for the space. Technologies developed for the space missions also pave the way to protect the Earth. In addition, deep space missions such has Mars exploration always brings new challenges in technology. Mars exploration is the challenge of dreams for humanity.

In this seminar, Dr. Kara will explain the existing systems to access the Mars for a sustainable path. Dr. Kara will also emphasize fundamental aspects of space technologies, such as Earth Observation for natural disasters, rocket systems for transportation and astronaut health issues aboard the ISS (international Space Station). Specifically, AI tools for the future space exploration will also be discussed with audiences to inspire people in the in Khalifa University.

Dr. Ozan Kara

Bio:

Dr. Kara leads hybrid rocket technologies developed at the Technology Innovation Institute, Propulsion and Space Research Center. He has also conducted various research in the space sector, such as Mars ascent vehicle design, satellite communication, climate change and virulence investigation of bacteria aboard the International Space Station. Dr. Kara received 2022 Young Space Leader Award at the IAC2022, Paris. In a survey organized for the Aviation and Space industry on LinkedIn, he was among the 100 Most Inspiring Young Professionals in 2022. Dr. Kara is a member of the IAF Space Propulsion, and Space Education and Outreach Committees. He also served as the Middle East Regional Coordinator in the Space Generation Advisory Council; 2018 – 2020. Dr. Kara is also a rowing athlete, volleyball player and photographer
