In-house Built Micro-Thruster Test Bench

The propulsion test rig was designed at the lab to test and evaluate chemical liquid propulsion system from sub newton to 100 N, the test rig is equipped with the necessary instruments, like pressure transducers thermocouples, a flow control system, and actuators, an NI data acquisition system is integrated to control and collect data, the system is designed mainly for Hydrogen peroxide, but it can be also used for multiple propellants,

A dedicated propulsion test rig covering a thrust range from sub-newton levels up to 100 N was developed internally to facilitate the testing and performance assessment of chemical liquid propulsion systems. The test bench is fully equipped with essential instrumentation, including:

    • Pressure transducers
    • Thermocouples
    • Flow control units
    • Pneumatic electrically actuated valves

An advanced National Instruments (NI) data acquisition and control system is integrated into the setup to ensure accurate monitoring, real-time control, and reliable data collection throughout the test campaigns.

While the system was primarily designed for the characterization of HTP based propulsion systems, its design make it compatible with wide range propellants. This makes the test rig aversatile platform for experimental validation, qualification testing, and academic research in the field of miniature propulsion systems.
