Dr. Saeed Alameri is an Assistant Professor in the Nuclear Engineering Department and Manager of the Gulf Nuclear Energy Infrastructure Institute (GNEII) at Khalifa University of Science and Technology (KU). He received his PhD in Nuclear Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in 2015. His research interests include nuclear reactor physics and transient modeling, and nuclear fuel cycle. Recently, he supervised graduate students to investigate the possibility of using accident tolerant fuels in APR1400 reactor by studying their impact on the plant’s operation and safety parameters.
Currently, Dr. Alameri is working with the Reactor Design and Analysis research group at KU in an optimization study of a high-temperature reactor coupled to a thermal energy storage system. Also, he is supervising researchers and graduate students in establishing and validating the method of evaluation of reactor parameters using the reactor response and to evaluate the possibility and effectiveness of the application of innovative control procedures in the APR1400 reactor.
