I have around 07 years of research experience at Khalifa University of Science & Technology, Abu Dhabi, UAE, and 03 years of teaching experience in various universities of Pakistan. I worked on industrially funded research projects for the Oil & Gas Sector (Funded by 'Gas Research Center: A joint venture of ADNOC, BP, and TOTAL) and carried out research experiments in 'ADNOC Research & Innovation Center (ADRIC), Masdar Institute Research Laboratories and Research Centers of Khalifa University, SAN & Main campus. I have hands-on experience in nanomaterials synthesis, electrodes development, CDI technology, water treatment (desalination, heavy metals removal, oil/water separation), membrane development, hydrogen production, bio-oil production through biomass pyrolysis and its catalytic upgradation, and electrochemical CO2 reduction etc. To date, I have published 45+ journal articles with a cumulative impact factor of 300+ and an h-index and i10-index of 27 and 39, respectively, with a total of 2000+ citations. Recently, I have been awarded a 10-Years Golden Visa of the United Arab Emirates under the category of Scientists & Researchers with Achievements by Abu Dhabi Residents Office (ADRO), Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP), UAE. In 2023, under the supervision of Prof. Banat, we also won 1st Prize in Energy Award by H.E. Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, UAE’s Minister of Energy and Infrastructure (MOEI, UAE) in the Research & Innovation Award (2022-2023) Ceremony, Dubai (27-Feb-2023) under the category of Universities and Research Centers in the field of the impact of climate change on the resilience of the energy and infrastructure sectors for our project entitled “Carbon capture & conversion system turns CO2 into hydrogen fuel and electricity”. I am also mentoring Master’s and PhD students and collaborating with different renowned researchers in Pakistan, India, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia.
