Madikay is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health and Epidemiology at Khalifa University. He completed postdoctoral training at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health’s Center for Communicable Disease Dynamics, where he focused on the genomic epidemiology of infectious diseases. His current work integrates genomics, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance, and One Health approaches to understand how bacterial population changes drive disease dynamics and the spread of drug resistance. He applies these methods to pressing public health priorities such as bloodstream infections, neonatal sepsis, and E. coli and Klebsiella outbreaks in the UAE and wider region. His research is published in leading international journals, and he has received prestigious honors, including the Robert Austrian Research Award.
